Progressing through the ages as a community
A major part of our idea blueprint was to create an in-game experience that immerses players and makes achievements and milestones exciting to unlock as a team.

CHALLENGE
OpenIDEO was seeking proposals for innovative ideas that would answer the question, "How might we reinforce a culture of generosity by creating charitable giving solutions that are more accessible, inclusive, and effective?"
SOLUTION
Ricardo's proposal highlighted ways to use gamification techniques + ethical gacha mechanics to raise awareness, donation, and engagement with various charities around the world.

Designing a world worth exploring
To gamify the experience, we created a world to feel parallel to our Earth. We are currently concepting to make this world feel rich and alive.

Adding tribes, NPC tribe members, and biomes
The world felt barren without NPCs with seemingly different cultural background. To bring environments to life, we created a variety of tribe styles, each with their own biome, culture, architecture, and fashion.

Creating modular, scalable design systems
To alleviate scope creep, we identified ways to leverage modular systems and create assets to populate the open world. Our goal is to give players customization options within scope limitations.

Drawing inspiration from ancient and tribal fashion with a futuristic twist
Since CoTribe explores civilization through the ages, it was important to generate a variety of fashion styles to represent different locations and eras. Our goal was to make the outfits feel familiar with a minimal, futuristic spin.

Moving forward with more curated experiences
A major part of our testing feedback revolved around creating personalized stories for players to feel immersed in the open world. To address the feedback, we are adding in-game tribes that have their own specialties, routines, and cultural norms.
